BOOKS (not a usual type of post)
Books - the eternal teacher and companion:
We wanted to share some books that have been highly instrumental in moulding our worldview over the past few years. We continue to re-read many of these books, often just pages at random.
The Power Of Now, Eckhart Tolle
Expands deeply on the ego and how to transcend its control over the essential 'You' (non-ego).
The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz
This short book outlines 4 key agreements to make with yourself. They are basic, but have surprisingly vast implications when followed:
1 - Be impeccable with your word;
2 - Don't take anything personally;
3 - Don't make assumptions;
4 - Always do your best
Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu
This is a Chinese classic written around 300BC. It is a collection of short chapters with its core teaching being "actionless action". It gets pretty abstract, so a good book to read just 1 page a day over the morning cup of Lemon Water.
Freedom From The Known, J Krishnamurti
A rather combative and challenging text that "reveals how we can free ourselves radically and immediately from the tyranny of the expected"... certainly don't take this book personally ;)
Pro-Tips:
- We buy many of our books from the "Book Depository" (https://www.bookdepository.com/) as they tend to be competitive with their pricing and offer free shipping worldwide.
- We also love to support our local traders too and for us that is"Coventry Bookstore" in South Melbourne. They have an awesome range and we buys lots of gifts for friends and family from there - free lovely wrapping is a bonus!
- If you're not keen on purchasing, then take a look at your local library. We enjoy dropping into ours to see what we can find.
We would love to hear what books (fiction or non-fiction) have most impacted your life as we are always looking for new and eclectic reads. Please let us know :)
