What is HPP Cold Pressed Juice (and why we DO NOT use this process)
There are so many types of juice out there - and some that are seemingly the same.
We are often asked 'why do KARMIC juices have such a short shelf life'?
The reason is that we don’t use any preservatives, additives or High Pressure Pasteurisation (HPP) methods.
As we know, the greatest benefits of unadulterated/raw (non-HPP) Cold Pressed Juice is that all enzymes, vitamins, nutrients and minerals are kept as close to their natural state as possible.
The alternative is High Pressure Pasteurisation (HPP) which is a manufacturing and packaging process designed to extend the shelf life of products.
Unfortunatley, the problem with High Pressure Pasteurisation (HPP) is that the process negatively impacts the quality of the juice (damaging living enzymes, vitamins and minerals).
Sometimes it can be hard to differentiate between the two production methods – so here are two key signs to spotting High Pressure Pasteurised (HPP) cold pressed juice:
1) Long shelf life (10-40 days) and;
2) Packaged in plastic bottles (HPP juice cannot be made in glass bottles). As a general rule try and avoid juices packaged in plastic.
We hope that this has been helpful and informative. We always want the best for you guys and will keep you updated with the latest.
